  1. Introduction to SAA
    SAA is a safety and mandatory safety certification in Australia. Generally, there will be C-TICK when operating together. This is an electromagnetic compatibility certification, and MEPS may be required. MEPS is Australia’s energy efficiency standard. This article mainly introduces the SAA certification of power adapters in Australia: SAA Australian International Standards (Standards Australia International Limited) is the only standards certification body in Australia. The body was established in 1922 as the Commonwealth Engineering Standards Institute of Australia and changed its name to the Australian Standards Institute in 1929. With the continuous development of the market business, Quality Assurance Services Pty Ltd was added in 1990. In 1999, the institution completely abandoned the nature of the association and was registered as a company to this day.
    Australia and New Zealand are two sparsely populated countries, with a current population of only 23 million, but very strong spending power. The commonly known SAA (Standards Association of Australia) is actually a standards institute, in charge of the formulation and revision of standards. Electronic and electrical products entering Australia (including Australia and New Zealand) must pass this certification, and the certification number must be marked on the product before they can legally enter Australia for sale. In Australia, electrical products are divided into announcement electrical products and non-announced electrical products. Announced electrical products are compulsory certification products, and non-announced electrical products are voluntary certification products. All electrical products sold in Australia must comply with the Electrical Safety Act 2004 Edition and its related Electrical Safety Regulations 2006 Edition. Most Australian and New Zealand standards start with AS/NZS, which means that the standard is formulated by the Australian and New West Two or Three Joint Standards Association and is applicable to both countries. It is referred to as the Australian New Zealand Standard in the text. For a standard that starts with AS or NZS only, it means that the standard applies only to Australia or New Zealand.
    Product safety testing in Australia is tested by a nationally recognized laboratory – NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) laboratory, or a CB member laboratory, and the test report is submitted to the certification acceptance agency of each state to apply for a certificate.
    There are two types of SAA certification, one is formal approval and the other is standard certification. Formal approval is only responsible for samples, while standard certification is responsible for both samples and the factory’s quality assurance system.
    There are two ways to apply for SAA certification: one is to apply directly, the other is to transfer through the CB report.
    The SAA test standard is basically the same as the IEC and EN standards, but there are minor differences. Therefore, the Australian difference needs to be written in the report during the test. At the same time, pay special attention to the special requirements of the pins. Australian voltage single-phase 240V, three-phase 415V, frequency 50Hz; the issuing agency has SAI, DOIR (Q number), DOFT (N number).
